The PAT Exam or the Planning Admission Test is the entrance exam conducted by the School of Planning, Center for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT) University in Ahmedabad.

The Planning Admission test is conducted every year by the Center for Environmental Planning and Technology which offers undergraduate and post gradates courses in the area of Natural and Built environment and other related areas.

Courses Offered

The courses offered by the School of Planning are plenty. Some of the Masters of Technology 24 month courses that they offer are in the areas of Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Planning, Housing and Infrastructure planning.

There are various subjects offered under each of these degrees. Apart from the subjects offered in the various degrees, the students can also opt for certain elective courses.

Eligibility for PAT Entrance Exam

All students should undergo the PAT entrance exam for their admission to the School of Planning. The other minimum eligibility criteria’s differs from course to course.

For admission into the Urban and Regional Planning and Housing specializations, the minimum educational qualification required is a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with specializations in Civil Engineering, Planning or Architecture or a Masters Degree or equivalent in Sociology or Geography or Economics from a recognized institution or university.

The aspiring candidates should have also secured a minimum of 50 percent aggregate in the prior pursued courses. The aggregate required for scheduled caste and scheduled tribe is 45 percent.

For admission into the Environment Planning and the Infrastructure Planning, the aspiring candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with specialization in Architecture, Planning or civil engineering from a reputed institution or university.

The aspiring candidates should have also secured a minimum of 50 percent aggregate in the prior pursued courses. The aggregate required for scheduled caste and scheduled tribes is 45 percent.

Students who have qualified GATE are given first priority.

CEPT  PAT Exam Details

The Planning admission test is held every year with the admission forms being made available online. The admission forms are to be submitted to the school with a demand draft of Rs 750 in favor of the CEPT University.

The Planning Admission test comprises of a written exam followed by group discussions and personal interviews. The candidates who are short listed post the written exam are alone called for the next level of screening. These candidates are intimated separately about their selection.

There are 9 centers in India where the Planning Admission Test is conducted namely Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Guwahati, Kolkata, Lucknow and Pune.

The details of the center are intimated to the eligible candidates through mail. The candidates can also download their admit card for the exams from the CEPT website.

Placement

The students passing out for the School of Planning are usually placed in jobs in the field of planning and development and management.

As the schools work closely with several NGO’s, research and development organizations, state government departments and private sector consultancy organizations who work in the area of planning and other elated activities, the students stand a fair chance of getting employed in these companies.
