Becoming a teacher in India after the 12th is now not a big deal. The reason behind this statement is the government’s decision to reduce the number of teaching years from existing 14 to 10 years. This will impact ‘how to become a teacher after 12’.

The new curriculum will be effortless for students to become teachers in India, but they have to undergo specialized courses like JBT. BTC or B. Ed from a recognized university.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that it will be conducting Central Teachers Eligibility Test (CTET) for teachers every year to be a pool of good teachers in India.

What Are The Different Ways To Become A Government Teacher After Schooling?

1. Through JBT (Junior Basic Training):

JBT or Junior basic training is a five-month intensive program that includes modules on child development, pedagogy, and the socio-cultural environment of students in India. The training imparts scientific knowledge through theoretical studies based on mental activities. It provides opportunities for the children’s physical, aesthetic, and intellectual growth.

It is necessary to have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination to join JBT. Every year, many candidates are selected for JBT via the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET).

JBT is an excellent opportunity for those students who wish to become a teacher in India after the 12th. It will provide a suitable platform if you want to get into the teaching profession upon completion of your 12th. The syllabus of JBT is more or less similar to that for B.Ed. courses, except that it is more practical.

2. Through Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed.):

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) is a one-year postgraduate degree course. It is the easiest way to become a government teacher in India after the 12th. However, it consists of two parts – compulsory pedagogy and optional subject. Candidates who have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 50% marks can apply for B.Ed. courses.

The B.Ed. syllabus is more or less similar to that for graduation courses, except that it is more practical.

It will provide a suitable platform if you wish to get into the teaching profession upon completion of your 12th. The B.Ed. is also an excellent opportunity for those students who want to become teachers in India after the 12th.

Suppose you are from states like UP and Rajasthan. In that case, you can complete your BTC from a respected institution and then clear the qualifying Supertet exam to get selected as a government teacher. You should stick to the Super tet syllabus to crack the exam in the first attempt.
